Getting rid of CDs & DVDs

So, after the previous give away (although technically not a give away as the bag full of clothes is still, sadly, sitting in corner of my room — it will go over the weekend!) I got rid of some more stuff.  Yep, CDs and DVDs.

A guy I know is a bit of a wheeler-dealer, and is always trying to make some money buying and selling stuff.  With this in mind, it came as no surprise when he told me, in addition to holding down a full time job and his other money-making schemes, he has decided to get into the car-boot sale game.  I told him I had stuff to get rid of, he said he wanted as much stock as he could lay his hands on.  A match made in heaven.  So anyway, the first shipment of my goodies to his burgeoning car-boot empire is a combination of all my DVDs and practically all my CDs (some were too embarrassing to allow this guy to see them and they will be binned as soon as…evidence….must…be….destroyed!!!1!).

The DVDs number about a dozen while their are a shit load of CDs (at least 60 in cases and many more without cases in one of those CD holder-thingies).  A few years ago, when I originally attempted (and failed) the great escape to Asia, I owned loads of 12″ records, DVDs and probably more CDs.  I ebayed most of the stuff and pocketed a tidy sum.  This time round, for various reasons, I frankly couldn’t be arsed and have let my mate get rid of them for me and give me a 40% cut on whatever he sells them for.  That said, I gave away a dozen CDs and a couple of DVDs to a colleague for nothing, it seemed to make his day which was all I could ask for.

There’ll be a semi-regular supply to the car-boot merchant till I run out of stuff to sell or he decides my junk is not good enough anymore.  I have promised him a broken laptop, hard hat, high visibility jacket and a pair of gloves as part of the next shipment.  Meanwhile, I beginning to contemplate getting rid of that holiest of holy grail: my books.

More on that another time.
